For more than four decades, the women of Luxomni gathered to sew, create, serve, and build lasting friendships. What began with a small group in 1948 grew into a ministry of service that touched many lives in our community.

Sewing Club
is Always on the Move

In 1948, Vesta Moore of Lawrenceville organized the Luxomni Sewing Club (Latin for “light to all”). The club started with eight members and soon grew into a vibrant ministry of friendship, service, and community. The ladies made lamps, baskets, ceramics, silk flowers, pocketbooks and other items. They met in members’ homes, held fundraisers, and in 1969 began meeting in their own building, donated by Luxomni Baptist Church.
