Luxomni Church
For more than 130 years, Luxomni Church has been part of the life of this community. Generations gathered here to worship, celebrate, grieve, serve, raise their families, and grow together in faith.

A Faithful Start
The church was organized on Sunday, July 21, 1895, as The Baptist Church of Christ at Luxomni. In the early 1920s, the name was changed to Luxomni Baptist Church.
Before the first church building was completed, the congregation gathered beneath an arbor on the church property for worship. That simple gathering place became part of the earliest story of the church, as families came together in faith while their permanent church home was being built.
When the original church building was completed, it became the spiritual home of generations of Luxomni families. Here they gathered for worship, prayer, preaching, baptisms, weddings, funerals, Homecomings, and fellowship.
From the Latin lux, “light,” and omnis, “all” — traditionally understood as
Our Church Through the Generations
Buildings changed. Generations came and went. The community around Luxomni changed dramatically. But through each season, the church remained a place where the Gospel was preached and people gathered in faith.
Generations at Luxomni
As the congregation grew and the years passed, the familiar white church became home to another generation of Luxomni families. Children grew up here. Families worshiped together. People were baptized, married, ordained, and remembered here.
For generations, this building stood at the center of church life in the Luxomni community, carrying forward the faith and fellowship that had begun decades earlier.
A New Season
In 1998, a new brick church building was completed during the pastorate of Rev. Don Horton. It provided the congregation with a larger sanctuary and new opportunities for ministry as the surrounding Lilburn community continued to grow and change.
The building was new, but the church remained rooted in the faith and history that began at Luxomni more than a century earlier.
Baptisms Through the Generations
Baptism has been part of the life of Luxomni Church for generations. Long before the church had an indoor baptistry, members gathered outdoors as new believers publicly professed their faith in Jesus Christ.
These photographs preserve moments separated by decades, but joined by the same faith and the same testimony. Generations changed and the places of baptism changed, but the meaning remained the same.

Pastors Through the Years
For more than 130 years, many pastors have faithfully served Luxomni, preaching the Gospel, caring for families, and leading the church through generations of change. These are just a few of the pastors who have been part of Luxomni's story.

More Than a Church
A Family Through the Generations
At Luxomni, church was more than a building. It was a family. A place to grow in faith, to serve together, to celebrate life, and to care for one another. Through the years, generations have gathered here to worship, to learn, to give, and to belong.
These photographs tell a story of faith, family, friendship, and a community that has always been stronger together.
“One generation shall commend your works to another.”
PSALM 145:4
